The oldest woollen mill in the world, on Valentine’s Day has opened the doors of its textile archives, full of fabrics representing the history of fashion from the USA to Italy, passing by France, Scotland, England and Germany. In the historic headquarter of Pratrivero, near Biella, 1200 swatches dating from 1876 till today, have been catalogued with the help of the expert Mr. Danilo Craveia and will be stored on computers during this year. The company, led now by the 13th generation of Barberis Canonico, shows us its ancestral love for quality fabrics, choosing – not by chance – the leitmotiv “VBC loves fabrics”. The aim is noble: provide designers, connoisseurs and enthusiasts with a priceless heritage, in order to make new generations aware of the art and beauty of the fabrics.
Il più antico lanificio al mondo, la notte di San Valentino, ha aperto al pubblico due secoli di archivi tessili che raccontano la storia del costume dall’Italia all’America, passando per Francia, Scozia, Inghilterra e Germania. Nella storica sede di Pratrivero, in provincia di Biella, 1200 campioni, dal 1876 ad oggi, sono stati catalogati con l’aiuto dell’esperto Danilo Craveia e verranno digitalizzati nel corso del 2014. L’azienda, giunta alla 13esima generazione, trasmette in questo modo il suo ancestrale amore per i tessuti di qualità e non a caso sceglie lo slogan “VBC loves fabrics”. Lo scopo è nobile: mettere a disposizione di stilisti, connoisseurs ed appassionati un patrimonio di inestimabile valore, al fine di avvicinare le nuove generazioni all’arte e alla bellezza dei tessuti.
