Some weeks ago I had tried Lemarcks, the double-monk straps by Bow-Tie in wine colur and equipped with Dainite sole and Goodyear construction. During the recent Pitti Uomo I paid a visit to the stand of the Spanish brand to discover the news of the season. The company, that wisely blends the British taste with a Spanish style, in December has launched its own e-commerce, granting worldwide shipping to its customers and this year they reinterpret their signature slipper shoes by adding a touch of refined cashmere on the upper, the same fiber used for their tassel loafers, as shown in the photos below. Their latest offerings include crepe soles on some derby models and cleated ones on boots, which come adorned with cashmere and wool patches. And from 2016 also shoe care products will be available, from neutral wax to polishing brushes.
“Goodyear construction grants comfort and high quality to our shoes” – says Sergio Ortiz, the Head of Sales, who adds: “what few people know is that to do an high-end Goodyear shoe you also need to be able to glue any additional layers of sole”. And that’s an interesting point, despite the commonplace according to which there are two opposed categories, the welted and the glued ones. In other words, if a pair of shoes has two or more soles, these outer soles must be firmly glued to the first sole (where the cork is placed), that is sawn to the upper and the welt.
Bespoke hugs,
Fabio
