Ardentes Clipei is a Paris-based tailoring house – whose name litterally means “Burning Shields”. It has been founded by Romain Biette one of the youngest tailors in France, who dropped law school to enroll in a two-year long tailoring course. Romain is a kind and cheerful guy who embodies the new trend of young bespoke tailors approaching the industry.
The lapel is inspired to the signature shape made famous by French tailoring house Smalto and inside the jacked features a waterdrop-shaped pocket (typical of some Frech tailleurs). The trousers plumb line is good, pleats are well cut, only the rise is a bit too low for my taste. As I always tend to let tailors do what they prefer, the jacket has shoulder padding. However, I am afraid the neckline is could have been made better, since there are few centimetres between my shirt collar and the jacket collar. Also the lapel bows on my chest when I move. I noticed Romain about these problems and I am sure that the next suit made from him will be way better.
Don't get me wrong: also master tailors make mistakes, it's absolutely normal. The important thing is to politely say your opinion to the craftsman and try to find a solution.
